Molybdenite
Mineral: Molybdenite
Description: Molybdenite from Madagascar. Now, I'm not a mineralogist (so any of you out there please correct this) but my understanding is that Molybdenite is the most common source of the ore Molybdenum which was highly sought after as an industrial flux. The Wulfenites from the San Francisco Mine in Sonora, Mexico characteristically has botryoidal Mimetites growing on them. Together, these were historically collected and CRUSHED so that they could extract the Molybdenum from them. ABSOLUTELY crazy in today's world of mineral collecting.
