Azurite and Malachite - Milpillas Mine, Mexico - 15,0 x 12,0 x 16,5 cm
Mineral: Azurite and Malachite
Locality: Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Municipio Santa Cruz, Sonora, Mexico
Dimensions: 15,0 x 12,0 x 16,5 cm

Description: Main crystal size: 3,3 cm Large sheet covered on one face by intact crystals in thick, very brilliant polysynthetic blades with beautiful blue reflections and some green malachite spots at the edges, with the same material on the other face, only more dispersed. The blue of this azurite is probably due to a fine layer of malachite that developed on the surface of the crystals, and that was then covered with a fine layer of azurite giving this effect.
