Mineral: Cuprite and Silver
Locality: Poteryaevskoe Mine, Rubtsovsky District, Altai Krai, Russia
Dimensions: 7,5 x 6,0 x 6,0 cm
Description: Main crystal size: 7,4 cm
Intact, brilliant ensemble of two polysynthetic half-octahedrons joined at the base with slight angular shifting and semi-crystallized silver threads at the joint. The metallic color becoming red on the surface under strong lighting is probably due to the fact that the cuprite crystallized with a greater proportion of tenorite than that of cuprites from Africa.
