Grossular (variety hessonite) and Diopside - Jeffrey Mine, Canada - 10,0 x 7,0 x 6,5 cm
Mineral: Grossular (variety hessonite) and Diopside
Locality: Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos, Les Sources RCM, Estrie, Québec, Canada
Dimensions: 10,0 x 7,0 x 6,5 cm

Description: Main crystal size: 2,6 cm Two slightly overlapping crystals in rhombic dodecahedrons -- almost perfect, lustrous, transparent and an orangey-dark amber color--sunk into a matrix partially covered with small, pale green diopside needles. These two crystals clearly exhibit the combination of rhombic dodecahedral faces (flat and brilliant) and trapezohedral faces (striated) which characterizes grossularites from this mine.
