Cuprite - Poteryaevskoe Mine, Russia - 4,0 x 4,0 x 4,0 cm
Mineral: Cuprite
Locality: Poteryaevskoe Mine, Rubtsovsky District, Altai Krai, Russia
Dimensions: 4,0 x 4,0 x 4,0 cm

Description: Ensemble of two slightly shifted octahedrons with 2 dull red faces on the surface, and the other faces brilliant. The metallic color becoming red on the surface under strong lighting is probably due to the fact that the cuprite crystallized with a greater proportion of tenorite than that of cuprites from Africa.
