Mineral: Quartz (variety agate)
Locality: Wiederau, Königshain-Wiederau, Mittelsachsen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany
Dimensions: 3 x 3 cm

Description: A small polished sample from one of the most famous German agate localities. The occurence was found in 1716, most of the agates appeared in red colour with a special zoning. In mid-18th Century the Wiederau agates were often mentioned as to be the best carnelian agates in the world (together with those from "the Orient").
