Halite, Sylvite - Kerr McGee Mine, USA - 5.5 cm
Mineral: Halite, Sylvite
Locality: Kerr McGee Mine, Carlsbad Potash District, Eddy County, New Mexico, USA
Dimensions: 5.5 cm

Description: This is a very unusual crystal by the fact that it has a colorless zone on the outside of the blue zone. This is the exact inverse of almost all of the other crystals. It was found in a pool of water, and in my thinking, the colorless halite crystallized over the blue halite as it was sitting in the pool. Phil Simmons photo.
