I also used to collect smaller (up to 30cm) ironstone ones in Fife, Scotland. They sometimes contained crystals of calcite, dolomite and marcasite

Found a video about this stacking/bracketing and it does seem useful. 'Focus bracketing' was a new term to me. I use Canon but would need a new body and lens to use the feature.

We used to find plates of mica every time we dug a hole in the fields on the farm. I think the biggest was about 20 cm across. I still have some of them.
