Has anybody tested the supposed stellerite specimens from Piedra Parada, Mexico?

I suspect the identification is based soley of the spherical morphology, which is typical of stellerite.

Might I suggest Dalnegorsk? I think I discern fluorite shapes that come from there - trapezohedral corners on cubes. The galena certainly could be from there.

I agree with much of above. But the white microcrystals can also be barite or quartz.. A quick test with HCL to check for reaction will verify if it is calcite (fizzes) or quartz/barite (no reaction).

Under the scope the botryoidal formations show they are brown internally (goethite), but have an overgrowth of blue-black micro-microcrystals (too small to see any details).

Mottramite was a good suggestion, but I just checked for reaction to HCL. No reaction which rules out mottramite. Additionally mottramite does not have a black streak.

They are most likely black tourmaline. Probably schorl.
