There is no poetry in LDG.
It is a silica glass with 98% SiO2.
Of course, since this siliceous phase was extracted from sandstones by very hot water from a comet falling about 28 million years ago, ...

Boron is a strange chemical element. Very oxyphilic, it is the first competitor of silicon, even in dishwashers!
It can participate in astonishing crystalline structures provided that there is no sil ...

Hi,
Tektites are rocks melted by the impact of a large meteorite.
For this, the components of the rock must be fusible, without going through a dissolution in hydrothermal water like chalcedonies an ...

If you wish, I can send you this art ...

Hello, about tanzanite pleochroism

I enjoyed doing this little manipulation (“manip”), as they say in chemistry.
On my last visit to the Mineralientage (Munich), I didn’t only see Masterpieces.

Pezzottaite
Pezzottaite is rhombohedral and it is not a Cs-rich beryl but a new mineral species closely related to beryl, with 15% Cs.
Morganite (a variety of beryl) tolerates a maximum of 3% Cs. Th ...
