It's a porphyry. Google porphyry formation to learn how it forms. Porphyry are very common and interesting to look at.

Yes! Fish scales perfect description. Muscovite seems to be more what we’re looking towards what we both have. Mine is somewhere in my unsorted/ unlabeled specimens and is greenish.

Yes a density measurement is a must. Photos pretty irrelevant here, an accurate hardness test with hardness scribes will also help but density is a must.
