Hi Kaprak,

Mike is correct. You have found a very weathered galena. Galena is relatively common in that area as well as drusy quartz which is all over the place and a lot of barite which is white ...

This does not look like any Midwest USA calcite I can think of. I think the key to potentially finding the location relies on a few items;

Where was it purchased? (I see the original poster is fro ...

Agreed, there is no doubt this is a Tri-State piece. Notice the rhombs of dolomite have a typical curvature often called saddle-shaped. Those Sphalerite crystals are much larger than anything from V ...

Thank you, it was purchased and a rock show and was tagged that way.
I see many of these mislabeled by people who think the districts are one and the same. I am fairly certain its from the Viburnum ...

PostForum: Rockhounding trips   Posted: Aug 16, 2021 12:59   Subject: Northern Ireland, Ireland collecting sites
Hi all,

I will be traveling to Ireland and Northern Ireland in a few weeks. I was interested in possibly collecting some minerals. I know Northern Ireland has mostly zeolites. Is the Little Deer ...
