From the Flambeau Mine...not sure what this habit is actual called, and welcome any suggestions.
Description: |
Calcite Flambeau Mine, near Ladysmith, Rusk County, Wisconsin, USA 81 x 69 x 43 mm
From the East End Footwall Orebody, Marker 418.0 1010 Level
"Wheat sheave" shaped white Calcites to 32 x 16 mm, with pearly luster and light-red Hematite accents are perched on sparkly contrasting matrix of Calcite. Although there is some damage, this is a very rare and important specimen-one of only three Calcites found at the Flambeau Mine in Wisconsin, and the very best one found. It was collected by Casey Jones who sold it to F. John Barlow (#5972), and was later consigned to Casey upon dissolution of the Barlow collection. |

As finally it seems that we can't find a new image for West Virginia State I desist to update that State and I continue updating the Wisconsin State with this unusual Bornite after Chalcocite published by Gneissware in his thread Bob's rocks
Description: |
Bornite ( ps. Chalcocite ) with Chalcocite Flambeau Mine, near Ladysmith, Rusk County, Wisconsin, USA 85 x 74 x 64 mm
Bluish, iridescent Bornite has pseudomorphed crystals of Chalcocite to 47 x 35 x 17 mm in size make up this floater grouping with no matrix or points of attachment. Shiny black crystals of Chalcocite are sprinkled upon the specimen. This is an excellent specimen, with no damage. |
