Hi Michael,
Just reviewed the past few days posts, beautiful specimens, complimented by excellent photography.
Being able to see specimens of this calibre from yourself and many of the other FMF contributors is truly one of the benefits of membership in the forum.

This morning's post shows several more specimens from Bulgaria's prolific mining districts. The pieces I have posted over the past several days by no means shows my entire collection from these wonderful localities, but I think it gives the viewer some sense of the diversity of minerals that have been found there over the past 25 or so years.

While I'm looking through Morocco, might as well post a few more from there. I can't tell you how many images I made of the cerussite. This one was very difficult to photograph and I'm still not pleased with the result, but I finally gave up and posted the best of the lot.

In today's post I will start showing a few minerals from Romania. This country has been a major focus of my collection for the past 22 years when I acquired my first Romanian specimen.
I'll start off today with three specimens from Turt, up in the northwest part of the country. While not as famous as some of the localities to the east in Maramures, it has produced some nice specimens from time to time including some very nice pseudomorphs.

The mines at Herja have produced countless specimens of wonderfully crystallized minerals that grace museums and private collections worldwide. The Herja Mine lies approximately 6 km northeast of Baia Mare close to the small village of Chiuzbaia (formerly Kisbanya). Over 100 orebodies have been exploited during the past century, but all of the mines were closed as of 2006. Of the over 35 minerals that are well-known from Herja, lustrous, chisel-shaped stibnite, semseyite in fan-shaped groups, spherical white calcites, and wonderfully crystallized calcite groups heavily included with jamesonite are all highly sought after by collectors.

I have had this specimen in my collection for 17 years. I acquired it from a dealer who used to spend a great deal of time in Romania, so I'm inclined to trust the label that came with the specimen. I also have a couple of similar specimens that were labeled as having come from Herja, and were acquired from another dealer who carried a lot of Romanian minerals. That being said, it certainly could be from another location. I just have to trust the label.
