I open this thread in order to place here all comments related to the Tucson Show. In this way the other topic, Tucson Show 2009 -> https://www.mineral-forum.com/message-board/viewtopic.php?t=460 can be reserved for reporting about the Show, and all other comments related to Tucson and the other posts can be placed here.

Of course all comments or questions will be more than welcome!

Peter,

As the other topic that I opened concerning Tucson 2009 ( https://www.mineral-forum.com/message-board/viewtopic.php?t=460 ) aims to be a kind of daily reportage and I blocked it, I opened this other "parallel" topic as the place where everybody can explain their feelings about Tucson 2009.

For example, your opinion would be just wonderful Peter!

Hi all, We are flying in on the 6th, so expect us at the Westwood Look for lunch on the 7th - thsi is always our usual first stop and great way to start the show, lots of minerals and a large burger :)
So Peter, whats the weather doing then? Its been grey and raining all day here in London so the prospect of some balmy sun is very much on our minds!!

Alan et al...with the usual caveats about the ability of meteorologists to accurately forecast anything past about 4 days....the projections are for absolutely monotonous gorgeous weather for at least the next week 22 daytime 6 at night. Sunny with perhaps wisps of clouds occasionally.

Bring your swimsuits.

Already folks here and there with things for sale...no clue as to the temperature of the market though

On a separate note...we have a neighbor who has a friend with a guest house near Westward Look. She rents it out for $500 a week and last we knew was still looking for a renter. Bedroom plus living area with sleeping couch

I can put you in touch with the friend and you can take it from there if interested.

NO guarantee its still availble

At Christmas time you can go on the internet and find out where Santa Claus is at any given time. Too bad we can't do this with our leader, Jordi Fabre. Right now he should be in the air somewhere between windswept Barcelona and warm and sunny Tucson. We wish him a very easy and pleasant flight and look forward to his first communication from his room at the InnSuites.

Your leader?, are you kidding? I'm just a poor Spanish man waiting for a connecting fly in the enormous Chicago airport! ;-)

Cheers to everybody, I will re-start my Forum's life as soon as I recover my routines in Tucson.

Final notice on the Forum get-together in Tucson. Thanks to Peter Megaw's help we are booked at El Minuto beginning at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, the 11th of February. They have a party room or, if the weather is nice, we will meet on the patio. El Minuto is on the south side of the Convention Center, 354 S. Main Street and the telephone number is 520-882-4145.

We hope to see as many of you there as possible. Free drinks and snacks!

Hi Gail,

I have a trouble, my helper Parés is back to Spain and he will be back only on Monday 9th, so it will be extremely complicated for me to do a reportage for the forum about your display in the Westward Look, because Saturday and Sunday are very busy days in the Innsuites and I should be here. Of course I will do a trip and admire your display but I ignore in what time I could do it and unfortunately it should be very fast, so could you please take photos and do a chronicle yourself of your display and publish it in this thread? Then I will copy it in my Tucson's thread, as a part of my columns.

robynahawk also she said to me, here in Tucson, that she will do a reportage and she will publish it in this thread, so in one way or other we will try to make good publicity of your display Gail.

I'm sorry don't do it myself, but believe me, in my circumstances I'm doing my really best! ;-)

Jordi
BTW, could you please letting me know in what time do you suppose that your showcase will be ready on Saturday and in what time it will be the close down?

No problem Jordi, am bringing my good camera with me so will get plenty of shots. I will also write my perspective on what it is like to talk about the minerals and what sort of questions were asked. The time is 10 a.m. till 4 p.m. and we will be there the whole time.
We are also planning to visit you at the Inn Suites during the week.
No worries. See you soon!

PostPosted: Feb 04, 2009 17:30    Post subject: Re: Tucson Show 2009 message board

Hi - thought I should check in since Jordi mentioned that I stopped in to see him the other day.

I am writing at least one daily post to my Tucson Gem Show - Live! blog at:
https://tucsongemshow.blogspot.com/
(link normalized by FMF)

I do an overview of shows and probably don't cover as much of the mineral shows as members here would like - but - I go where my readers direct - so more mineral readers - more mineral show detail!! :)

I volunteered to transport a group of ISG students to the Westward Look Show (Collectors Showcase) on the 7th - and will also be attending the Photography Panel discussion.

I look forward to seeing the infamous Spann Collection! The stuff Gail posted was a tease!!

Quick question for Gail - I see that the event is from 10 - 4 - are you personally walking folks through, giving a presentation or are you just available for questions?

Robyn Hawk

Hi Robyn, we got here tonight. We drove for 15 1/2 hours and after a quick meal are ready to turn in. But we are here and it is wonderful weather isn't it?

We will be there, from ten till four, the whole time. Will happily walk your group through!
Looking forward to it.

Back in Europe this morning...... snow and just around freezing point.
