Thanks for the tip..we can tell by eye what rock holds the gold in them and this summer we have collected over 700 pieces with vugs in them.

Congrats on all the finds. 700 is quite a large number of specimens you have collected. Based on that number alone, there's probably 100's more laying around that you can't see any gold in and are waiting to be picked up with a metal detector.

thanks Goldfinger..ya i know your right but we are just looking for vg as we dont crush the rocks and if i find a rock that i know carries gold i'll crack it open to see if there is gold inside

Recently I just interested in metal detecting. I am looking for a cheap metal detector. Anyone got metal detectors from "detectorall(dot)com"?

i don't have one but going to invest in one soon as we have over 50 old mine sites that mined gold ... and also if there is anyne out there that can point me in the right dirrection or want to help me sell some of my collection of my specimens i would be more then happy to share the wealth...msg me Derrick

The best detector for your needs is a Gold Bug 2 with the 6.5 inch coil. That's by far your best option. If you want excellent results, you need to get the best.

I would list the larger specimens for sale on eBay. It would help if you knew how much gold was in them. I don't think too many people are going to pay extra for specimens without some idea of the gold content.


Then I would have someone grind the smaller pieces strictly for the gold content, then pan it out. I'm sure someone in your area can do that on a % basis.
