This Land in the southwest of Germany includes the Black Forest, Germany’s largest and highest mountain area apart from the Alps that has been an important mining region since the middle-ages. The Black Forest is also the region of Germany with the greatest diversity of minerals, a good example is the famous Grube Clara (Clara Mine) where more than 400 different minerals occur, both very rare species and high quality specimens of common minerals like fluorite and Baryte.

Very nice, Jordi!

Here's a combination of three minerals from a mine that is rather unknown compared to Clara Mine:

When Tannenboden is rather unknown compared to Clara mine, let me show some specimens from localities rather unkown compared to Tannenboden;-)

To all the others out there: Please note that Andreas owns a mineral specimen from nearly EVERY single place in Germany. Even an "ordinary" German collector like me doesn't know 50 % of the localities. But that's what makes Andreas so useful for our virtual trip through Germany: He even shows minerals from places that you've never heard of, even when you collect German minerals ;-)

Well, i think, my collection doesn´t include even 10 % of the published German localities. The Urenkopf quarry is a well-known place for Black Forest collectors. It was one of the first discovered German locales for thaumasite and produced good pectolite and prehnite samples too.

The Frischglück mine is, of course, not one of the most important ones in the Wittichen district. Most of the St. Roman mines were iron mines, these calcites are, in my opinion, the only minerals worth mentioning, apart from some decent hematite samples.
