PostPosted: Jan 27, 2014 14:16    Post subject: Famous piece stolen from a Romanian Museum

Past weekend, one of the world famous pieces in the collection belonging to the Museum of Mineralogy in Baia Mare, Maramures county, Romania, was stolen.
It is an exceptional piece of a rare Romanian black and white calcite sphere (calcite with boulangerite inclusions), extracted from Herja Mine. It is roughly the size of a tennis ball.
Please find a picture of the stolen piece below.
A criminal investigation is underway. It seems that the perpetrator knew exactly what he was doing since this is one of the most valuable pieces on display and nothing else is missing from the Museum. The Police said he spent less than a minute to commit the burglary. It is most likely that the piece will be sold on the international black market.

If by any chance you get into contact with it or someone tries to sell it to you, please notify immediately the Museum of Mineralogy in Baia Mare and / or the local authorities.
Please help in spreading the word.
The piece must be returned to its rightful owner, for all the people to enjoy!

Thank you very much!
