Hi Am. Thank you for showing your beautiful specimens. I find this specimen (QtzTanDetail.jpg) very interesting. See the 3 small triangles are in line with the inclusion. I presume that the 3 triangles are of the quartz. How deep is the included mineral beneath the surface? Is it possible to post a close up of this?

Pierre - Here is a close up of that section of the crystal. This particular inclusion is very near the surface. It looks like it is no more that 1 mm from the surface.

Hi Am. Thank you for posting the photo. I am particularly interested in why the triangles are in line with the included mineral. Regards.

Impossible to tell from the photographs. Quartz completely covering fluorite. There are only a few very tiny openings where one can see the underlying fluorite. A couple of spots seem to have small lollingite crystals present.

Hi Am, I find this specimen (QtzCalHematite1.jpg) very special. Excuse my ignorance but is the red the calcite? Can you publish a close up of the red crystals? Best regards.

Pierre,
I agree - this is a neat piece. The red crystals are quartz included with hematite. The calcites are small clear crystals scattered about the surface.

Hi Michael. Thank you. Very impressive for a UK specimen (for that matter, anywhere).
