Thanks Bob. I haven't seen any other garnet specimens from the Bishop locality. Mindat has only one garnet photo from this locality, so there wasn't much to compare with, but it was quite a bit darker in color.

In the summer of 1964 our family traveled to Michigan's upper peninsula and my love of native copper was born. I can't remember how many mine sites we visited, but there were many. At that time, it was pretty easy to find copper specimens without the aid of a metal detector, and I was able to collect several nice specimens for my growing collection, one of which leads off this post.

Intergrown group of copper crystals with a rich dark brown patina. The
