This is one of my favorite fluorites from southern Illinois. It was collected by Ross Lillie in November 1979 in the brand new Denton shaft.

This one is for you Gerard. With your knowledge of Colombian emerald localities, perhaps you can suggest more specific information about the locality.

That's a tough one Michael.
There are literally hundreds of tunnels in Coscuez but just a few are in activity today.
I have quite a few specimens from Coscuez but I gave up on trying to get specific information about the localities.
What comes to my mind at first glance is that this a very nicely balanced specimen. I also like the step-like termination which is probably found more in Coscuez than in any other mining district. Excellent photo too!
Am jealous now :-)

Thank you Tobi and Gerard. It was your thread Gerard, showing so many beautiful emeralds that inspired me to look for a Colombian emerald for my collection.

Thanks Michael.
Beyond the satisfaction of sharing my passion for emeralds, this is the best reward I could possibly get from my thread.
