I think those "rocks" are 250 incredible mineral specimens and it would certainly be a pleasure to visit again.

918 Pyrargyrite is probably my favorite pyrargyrite from anywhere. The creedite is really something to behold as are the rest of the Mexican suite from Miguel Romero's collection. The boleite suite is really quite something as well.

OK, now I'm motivated to comment on this particular thread. Based on the photos that Salim has kindly shared here, on the MIM Facebook page, and for the two MR articles about the Museum, adjectives like "incredible, amazing and spectacular" are inadequate to describe what Salim has done and is doing.
This is simply the most important reference and aesthetic collection extant, and it is noble work. Congrats and please do keep the photos/descriptions coming. They serve as an invaluable and inspirational repository unlike anything else!

Jim, thank you for your very kind words. I hope that you can make it one day to Lebanon to visit the museum - and the country (you'll see, it is less wild than what media generally depict!)

Salim,
It would be a wonderful honor to come see the collection in person. Also, I'm sure Bryan Swoboda of Blue Cap Productions would appreciate the chance to speak with you about a new film series idea that would be perfect to include MIM.
Thanks!

What a wonderful collection. Almost all of the specimens were chosen by the collector for their most aesthetic appearance, luster. color and high quality. Just truly amazing and stunning.

I just only recently went through the multiple pages of your mineral photographs, Mr. Edde'. You are to be congratulated for your Herculean efforts in gathering such a wonderful mineral collection while running under the radar.
I was in communication with my good friend John White yesterday and both of us believe that not only are the selections of the common and the rare species so well represented in spectacular fashion, but, as John so eloquently pointed out, it is important that you "selected some very esoteric things, not just the super pretties". And, there is something else. We see a very rare phenomenon in you, Mr. Edde'. In our century plus experience of mineral collecting, we find it is a rare mineral collector indeed, who combines the ability to assemble such a collection, with an unbelievable sense of aesthetics and impact in almost all of the specimens shown. Thank you so much for sharing these photographs of the MIM collection. Personally, while I travel a lot, much of my travel is relegated to less populated areas where geologic exposures and birds rule. The chances of my seeing this amazing collection in person are remote, so I thank you for allowing me to view these exceptional pieces through the internet. The Jalpaite, by the way, is one of my personal favorites.

Dear Mr. Potucek
Thank you for your very kind words. Pictures will unfortunately convey only partially the beauty of these marvels of nature.
I know that my country, Lebanon, is not one of the most popular destinations nowadays, but it is a country that is 3 hours 45 min away from Paris, for instance, that does not require visas for Europeans or Americans, and that is far less wild than what is inferred by reading newspapers!
If you decide to make it to Beirut, please let me know: it will be my pleasure to tour you around the museum!
Salim

Beirut is "the Paris of the Middle East" !
Having been in Paris so many times, but not yet in Beirut, is a shame on me.
Lebanon has so many beautiful places to see, people to meet, nice food to eat, wines to drink, we can dance, look at minerals, go to the beach, ski in the mountains, walk in the cedar forests, visit Baalbek, Byblos, Tyre, et cetera, so much beauty.
I would love so much to go to Lebanon. If one day we have again some money to travel, we will come, with my wife and now two children. We will walk, feel safe and have a good time.
Kesak! Frank

Mr. Potucek
I should add that we have several bird watch posts in the Bekaa valley (Kfarzabad, Ammiq among others in the various swamps of the region where birds migrating between Africa and Europe make periodic stops).
You could thus combine bird watching with minerals !
