Hi Don. I like your specimens. Please have a look at https://www.mindat.org/min-2379.html (link normalized by FMF) with regards to your Brandberg crystal with 'lepidocrocite' . Best regards.

Yes, nice Brandberg piece, but lepidocrocite has not been reported from this area, despite what the labels from many dealers say. These inclusions have been shown to be goethite or hematite. Changes made accordingly.

Pierre and Michael,

Thank you for your kind comment, Heimo. I enjoyed the pictures from your trip to the Namib Desert and particularly liked your Shattuckite specimens.

Regards,

Don

These odd Ilsfeld calcites now made it to the US it seems... Quite a nice piece for this locale. The name of the nearby city is Stuttgart, however.

Andreas, I appreciate your comment. Ironically, my wife's family is from Stuttgart, Arkansas, a small town 38 miles from where we live. It was named after Stuttgart, Germany where Rev. Buerkle, who settled this farming community, was from. Stuttgart, Arkansas is the self-proclaimed duck hunting capital and rice capital of the world. In the summer, I think it is also the mosquito capital of the world.

Thank you, again.

Regards,

Don

Hi Don,

that´s nice. I didn´t know that there is a Stuttgart in the US. But most of the bigger German citys were the inspiration for American equivalents, i presume...

Best regards
Andreas
