The Copper Queen mine, Bisbee's first working mine, was also its last. Mining ceased in 1975, although the Copper Queen still offers tours.

The Warren district is credited with having produced 7.92 billion pounds of copper. In addition, the district recovered 324 million pounds of lead, 355 million pounds of zinc, 28 million pounds of manganese, 2.79 million ounces of gold and 102 million ounces of silver.

Former collection of Frank Imbriacco and his photo

Comment from his e-mail to me "With respect to the '79 Mine aurichalcite, I obtained the specimen in the middle 90s from Arizona Minerals which at the time consisted of Mark Hay, Dick Morris and George Godas, all of whom know a good rock. I'll include their label and mine. What I like about the piece are the spherical groupings verses the typical carpet of fine acicular crystals." I would agree with him this is very different for the '79 mine

Ray was constructed in 1909 as a company town by the Arizona Hercules Copper Company. In the late 1940's open-pit mining replaced the underground workings. The growing pit eventually engulfed the town and Ray was moved to the town of Kearney in the late 50's.

Great specimen, thanks for sharing!

And Vic, thank you for the impressions - though the cactus on https://www.mineral-forum.com/message-board/download.php?id=77236 looks like a raised middle finger ;-)
