Quartz from two old New England localities.

Moat Mountain is a well-known New Hampshire locality for smoky quartz and collectors have exploited the miarolitic cavities in the Conway granite for many years.

Crystals of rose quartz crystals were unknown to collectors until their discovery at Mt. Mica in Maine around 1913. Another discovery in Maine was made on Plumbago Mountain in 1942. Although Brazil is known for producing the finest rose quartz crystals in world, they weren't discovered there until 1958.

Excellent specimens as always Mike. I have a similar Minerva calcite that strongly resembles yours that came out in 1991 from the Cross-cut Orebody. I'm assuming that yours was probably mined in the same timeframe.

Thanks Jamison,

Yes, the calcite was recovered during advance mining in the Cross-cut orebody in 1991. Who knows, they may have been in the same pocket together.
