PostPosted: Nov 10, 2017 14:10    Post subject: Collection of Benjamin Carballo

It has been now a few years that I'm registered on FMF Mineral Forum, and where I read your publications.

First of all, I'll introduce myself :

My name is Benjamin Carballo, I am 25 years old, I was born and I live in Nantes,
an important and beautiful city situated in the western of France. I am a student
in Tourism. I love football (soccer) ; my favorite team is the Football Club of Nantes,
nicknamed "the canaries" ! Also, I like aviation, hiking in mountains...and I am a
volunteer in the French Road Savety.

The mineralogy is my greatest hobby since I was 6 years old ! My favorite
minerals are radioactive minerals, pegmatite's minerals, and French minerals
(in particular : Armorican massif, Pyrenees Mountains, Alps, etc...). Sometimes,
I collect some minerals from around the world. I dig minerals especially in my area,
the Armorican massif, with a young German enthusiast (30 years old) settled near
my city, and speaking French well !

For my dreams, I would like to visit USA, in particular to visit Tucson Show, to visit
Rocky Mountains, and digging aquamarines in Antero Mt with the owners of local concessions !

To finish, I know many famous French collectors (Alain Martaud, Eric Asselborn,
Gilles Emringer, etc...).

Jordi Fabre know me a little, thanks to my passion for radioactive minerals,
I already bought him a radioactive opal from Zacatecas, in Sainte-Marie aux Mines !

thank you in advance for your welcome !

Welcome Benjamin, thanks for your interesting introduction and congratulations to that schorl finds! Like Don, I also hope to see a lot more from your collection ...
Though I'm actually not interested in radioactive minerals, I really like your autunite, wonderful specimen in great condition and with a dazzling colour!

Regards from another "German enthusiast" ;-)

Salut Benjamin & Welcome onboard !
If you want, you could use here some of the photos I've taken of your minerals and I hope we will organize a new shooting session soon!
Do you plan to go to Angers mineral show, next week? I'll be there on Saturday morning.

Hi Benjamin:

Can you tell us more about your "dig" on the coast of Brittany? It seems an odd place to collect and to find nice crystals of tourmaline, apatite and orthoclase.

Hi John,

In the English Channel coast, there are a lot of pegmatites (on granite) that contain Tourmaline, Beryl, Apatite... The best spots are Santec, Roscoff, Saint-Briac, and
Saint-Malo coast (Cancale).

Also, we can see smoky quartz in Santec ;-)

Locally, beryl and orthoclase can be decimetric (Santec, Roscoff) !

Red-pink fluorite (6,5 cm). La Charpoua, Mont Blanc massif, Chamonix, French Alps. A veil of chlorite offers a nice contrast.

This locality exists for aiguille verte (charpoua side). Better for jordi's work ;). Charpoua is not a mountain.

Hi Benj!
A warm warm welcome from... the other part of the Alps! I visited Brittany in the year 2000, cycling from Vannes to St. Malo and Mont St. Michel, through Pontivy, i.e. the inner road! It was amazing beautiful!
Greetings from Italy by Riccardo.
