I have had this large rock in my garden for awhile and just recently broke it in half and this is what it looks like. I am going to attempt to clean it up a bit with muratic acid. Please let me know what you think. I can't find any info about it. Thanks

Yes, your rock is a septarian nodule with seams of calcite. A word of warning - muriatic acid will attack (dissolve) the calcite, so perhaps restrict your cleaning to a brush with soap and water.

Yes stay away from any type of acid even something as weak as vinegar will destroy this specimen. Soap and water only.

Awesome, thank you. Now that I know what it is I can go about cleaning it properly and researching how it was formed!
