PostPosted: Sep 15, 2018 11:25    Post subject: Beautiful flat crystals - what is this??

Hi all,
This was given to me as a gift, and unfortunately the gifter did not remember the name of the specimen or the locality it came from. I tried taking several photos, but its only about 3 cm square and was a bit difficult. The crystals are transparent, wide (but not thick) with a terminated point on most of them. It is very fragile, if I had to guess maybe only 2-3 on Mohs. It's beautiful and i'd like to find more information on it, and am appreciative of any suggestions. I don't even know where to begin!

Looks to me as Hemimorphite...
But with so few data, it may be so...or it may be not so....
Sorry...

Just searched a few photos of it, and it definitely looks like what I have! I wish I had more information, but it's great to know what it likely is. Thank you Lluis!

To you!

If hemimorphite, I would say one from Mexico

With best wishes

This is hemimorphite from Ojuela Mine, Mapimí, Mun. de Mapimí, Durango, Mexico.

Just compare with this one.

It is why I say Hemimorphite and why I say Mexico ( I have one from there :-)

With best wishes
