Spent the day at the Westward Look - as usual there were lots of terrific specimens on display. Here's a brief pictorial summary - most localities are given in the photos.

Today starts the "climax" of the whole Tucson Show with its more official part: the TGMS (Tucson Gem and Mineral Show®) or Main Show.
These are some of the beauties you will see if you attend the TGMS from today to Sunday 17 February :

Before we get to the summaries of the TGMS "Main Show" (a heads up - there are about a dozen display cases that are too good to be true) I thought I'd add this note that was only a rumor until I verified it with the HTCC/Inn Suites Show people.
Next year, 2020, will be the last year for the use of the HTCC as a Show venue. Apparently the owners no longer want this event (which seems a tad on the dumb side given the amount of $$ that they must make over the show) and the new venue will be The Hilton El Conquistador which is located well north of the Westward Look just off Oracle Road. (I attach a map of the venue layout that was provided by the Show Committee.)
Lots of mixed reviews about this new venue's location (the main one - WAY too far north) but near unanimous agreement about moving from the HTCC as a good thing. A few years ago the front lobby of the HTCC went thru a major renovation and the hope was that these renovations would continue - no such luck. Most of the rooms have not been touched (or even rented) since last year's show.
And parking this year was a real mess - not just lack of spaces but you had to drive thru the surface of the moon to get around the HTCC and dust was everywhere.
So, things are again changing - i'll have some more thoughts later.

About to take my flight back to Barcelona I'm adding few photos of pieces that I liked in the TGMS at the Convention Center.
There are more that I will publish when I am already in Barcelona.

Today is the last day of the TGMS "Main Show" which also signifies the end of the 2019 Tucson Shows - lots of teardown work ahead for many of us.
For those of you who couldn't attend the TGMS, I plan to provide some detail of 6 to 8 of the display cases - which this year were REALLY great - much greater than the recent past and the recent past has had terrific display cases. I'll provide some photos and a brief video of what I think are the 7 or so best ones.
For now though, I'd like to recognize and thank Jim and Gail Spann for all they have done at this show - they provided their usual excellent display case (this year packed with excellent Chinese minerals), they provided many of their best wulfenites for another excellent display case that included mining memorabilia, and also hosted a wonderful dinner/reception at the Hacienda del Sol for those of use fortunate enough to get an invitation. I can't imagine the effort they went through to plan the cases, set them up/tear them down, and transport them to and back from Tucson. They truly made a huge contribution to the success of the show.
Stay tuned for some photos/videos of some of the best specimens in the world.

A million apologies to our fearless leader Jordi as I forgot to mention him in the above post as one of the sponsors of the FMF / Meet the Mineral Museum Professionals dinner/reception held at the Hacienda del Sol.
Many thanks for Jordi for sponsoring this terrific event.
