Aegirine, quartz
Highly aesthetic specimen, a fine example for the species in that already classic locale. A prominent incredibly lustrous aegirine crystal 82mm in length choicely arranged with glassy gemmy and complete doubly terminated smoky quartz crystals. In very good condition and fully crystallized all around. Ex Douglas Toland collection.
Overall size: 88mm x 60mm. Main quartz crystal: 88mm long; main aegirine crystal: 82mm long. Mass: 67g.
Mount Malosa, Zomba District, Malawi.

Finally something new from your wonderful collection, dear Carles! Unlike you, I am not that interested in Mt. Malosa specimens, but that one is simply incredible, it shows a wonderful "architecture" of both quartz and aegirine. A really highly aesthetic specimen, this was for sure not easy to capture on photo, not even for a professional like Dan. Great one!
Regards
Tobi

You're welcome :-) I always enjoy your presentation of new specimens. It's not only that the minerals are very fine, you also combine very good photos with detailed descriptions and often even with maps that show the locality. I like this kind of presentation very much and I hope there will be a lot more!

The renowned ethologist and evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins asked me for permission some time ago to include a photo of a Navajun pyrite from my collection in his projected book Outgrowing God: A Beginner’s Guide as a little help to back his theories about biological evolution. And finally here it is.
The original specimen photo in full color can be seen at FMF just by clicking here.
