PostPosted: Jan 18, 2020 10:17    Post subject: New to the site ! Beginner trying to identify.

I apologize in advance because I know this is annoying for some of you. These are just samples I collected over the years and I'm getting frustrated trying to identify the different samples and areas where they come from. I've always been interested in "the pretty rocks" and I'm really starting to appreciate for what they represent.
If you could help identify some of these for me I would appreciate it. If you think I would be better served at another website, beginners or remedial collectors as well as any reading material would be great.
None of the samples are bigger than 4 inches across 4 inches wide and 3 inches tall. The lighter is there for reference
Thank you in advance.

Hello Elana, welcome to FMF.
Identification requests should be accompanied with some additional data. Please read Asking: "What is this? / Where is it from?" and give us the maximum of information you can achieve.
Anyway, as there are some easily identificable pieces, here is my bet:

sampler.jpg
 Description:
1 - Quartz var. chalcedony (geode)
2 - Quartz + pyrite + other sulphide, maybe galena or sphalerite.
3 - Quartz var chalcedony (jasper)
4 - Gypsum (rose desert)
5 - Azurite + malachite + limonite?
6 - Smoky quartz pebble?
7 - Quart or calcite (geode)
8 - Quartz (tiger's eye)
9 - Quartz var. chalcedony (agate slice)
10 - Not recognized

Thank you so much! You got more done in 2 hours than I got done in 2 weeks! It took me three days after that to get up the courage to ask! I really do appreciate it!
