Hello Sante,

I'm very impressed with your collection that represents a complete view of all the specimens that could be found in your beautiful country Italy.

That's just incredible.

Take care.

Dany.

Hello Sante,
You're still stuck in the Italian Alps :-)
I was happily surprised with the crystallized omphacite you posted.
I couple of years ago, there was an Italian dealer (Franco Manavella I think) who was offering only polished and rough omphacite specimens at the Munich show.
He was claiming that his specimens were all from one location: Val Pellice, Gruppo del Monviso, Piemonte
I suppose there are several occurrences of chrome-omphacite in the Piemontese Alps.
Am enjoying your collection like many others do in this forum.
Gérard

Thank you, Dany. Très gentil, comme toujours...

The truth is that 50 years of collecting are a lifetime.
In addition, I was fortunate to develop the core of my collection in the 70s and 80s, when here in Italy there was the boom of minerals collecting and it was relatively easy to acquire national specimens: most of the mines were still open and there was participation at regional fairs to exchange, not only to buy and sell. Creating a collection at that time was much more feasible than today.
Well, I know that Italian anatases cannot compete with those of your country... :-)
Cheers.

Merci, Gérard, pour tes aimables paroles.

I honestly don't know whether to continue with Alpine minerals or to change areas.
I fear that some friends may get bored with the method I have chosen and therefore I will move to other regions from next month.
Yes, you are right: it is possible to find omphacite in several places in Piedmont, although the locality that gave the best crystallized specimens is Bric Vert.

Although the green of your fever is not the same as my next piece, I dedicate it to you with sincere friendship.

Cheers.
Sante
