Hi Jesse, outstanding specimens, thanks for sharing! All of them are truly superb, I like the second and the third one the most. Really really great contribution to this thread!

Please more - I know you have many many world-class fluorites and for sure you haven't shown most of them yet ;-)

Tobi

Thanks, Tobi. Seems that I need to go back and check on what I've posted in the past as I seem to be repeating myself! I'll try not to do this again. Cheers!

PostPosted: Sep 28, 2020 18:43    Post subject: Re: Favourite Fluorites?

I thought I'd share a few fluorite specimens that I was commissioned to photograph for a few collectors and dealers that I'm thankful to be friends with. Minerals are great fun to play around with on your own, but sharing that passion with others makes it all the more enjoyable! I always love sharing their enthusiasm for the hobby by photographing the pieces they cherish having in their collections.

For the stereo photographs, here's how to view the specimen in 3D:
Sit straight in front of the screen and look at the image increasingly more cross-eyed. When you do so, the left and right images will gradually start to overlap more and more in the centre. Once you find the sweet spot in which both images exactly overlap, the image will suddenly appear to be in 3D. You can also use the two dots at the top to get the two images to align.

Superb Niels. Especially the La Collada ones, but I would say that given my role in translating this page (and a large collection of La Collada material)

Hi, Niels. How are you?

I like systematic collections and I really appreciate you baryte collection, as well as the superb quality of your photos.
Also, being a lover of 3D images, I am so trained to look at them that it takes me less than a second to focus them. You can imagine my very pleasing surprise of today to see these beautiful fluorites so well reproduced.
Thank you for this nice gift you give us and "please, more...", if that is not abusing your kindness.

Congratulations and a warm greeting from Gavorrano.
Sante

Like Sante, I'm also able to see the 3D effect immediately (I know some people don't) and thus I love those stereo images!
Great work, I hope to see more :-)

Nothing new here for 9 months - this is far too long for a favourite fluorite thread ;-)

I think this specimen from Xianghualing Mine in China must have a place here, it's the latest fluorite that I added to my collection and I would call it the best fluorite specimen I ever had:

Tobi - you are correct, it has been quiet here for too long. I think some of us have been in hibernation for a while, however!

Few mineral shows and not much travel, but I did make it to the "Mini-Tucson" show in early April and came back with this one.

Another find at the recent "Mini-Tucson" show. This location produced some interesting specimens about 30 years ago, but I have not seen anything since. This one came from an old collection and was in a dealer's "double-keystone" room. I usually don't spend much time looking at this sort of stuff as there's a reason that most of it is being offered at very inexpensive prices (at least by today's standards). Once in a great while there's an exception.
