Hello Jordi,
for the gibbsite with wulfenite, I have a label from D. Weinrich, which states Xianghualing as location (which may be wrong, of course). You changed the location to Baoshan, Yunnan. I've seen that for Baoshan, Yunnan, doyleite with same chemistry is reported. First, the question arises, if this is gibbsite or doyleite, second, for both Baoshan and Xianghualiing no wulfenite is reported, as far as I know. So, what to do with this piece? Does anyone know more about this paragenesis? Every hint is appreciated!

Volkmar

Berthold Ottens pointed out about this locality. About the Wulfenite I don't know. Phlogopite is on my analysis and I remember that at first sigh I believed that it was Wulfenite because it was yellow and flat but finally it was Phlogopite. Anyway, your photo shows something that looks exactly as a Wulfenite, so, honestly, I don't know.

Thank you for your input, Jordi. So I think, I can change it to "gibbsite/doyleite (?)" from Baoshan. The question mark remains as long as no analysis is available for my piece.

Concerning the wulfenite, maybe future brings more light into the problem.

Thanks,
Volkmar

Doyleite and Gibbsite are polymorphs and usually they tend to appear both together. You can use 'Doyleite (dominant) with Gibbsite' or 'Doyleite-Gibbsite'

About the analysis - I ordered analysis of at least three of them and it always was Doyleite (dominant) with Gibbsite

Some of my newest aragonite finds from this week!

The location for these aragonites was discovered by myself about 30 years ago. Since then nobody knows about this place (I have good relationship to the land owner, so I don't want to make and to get problems because of others). The aragonites are unique, because they grow in drusy hollows of breccia pebbles, that were weathered from inside out along fractures.

I really love that 11 cm specimen of wulfenite on gibbsite from Yunnan, great combination!

Thank you, Tobi!

For the gibbsite specimen you can read the comments of Jordi above. It is most probably a mixture of doyleite/gibbsite.
