PostPosted: Aug 10, 2020 12:58    Post subject: New Administrator - Peter Farquhar

The Friends of Minerals Forum started 14 years ago on August 7, 2006. Let me wish Jordi Fabre and all the other moderators, administrators, and workers at FMF a very Happy Anniversary!!

Thanks to the efforts of so many dedicated volunteers, over 10,000 mineral enthusiasts have registered and enjoyed sharing hundreds of thousands of messages and images totaling almost 70 million views on FMF. In that spirit, I want to continue this tradition and introduce myself as an FMF Site Administrator.

My name is Peter Farquhar, and I am a long-time mineral collector specializing in rutile, copper, and silver specimens; I am particularly interested in the historical background and provenance of specimens. I have enjoyed contributing to FMF, particularly the featured column About cyclic twinning - (5) and look forward to paying it forward as a Site Administrator.

My professional training is primarily in statistics, engineering, and management. After a career in research and teaching at several universities, I am now a retired University Professor. During my career, I was involved in the design, development, and marketing of more than 40 new products in partnership with leading companies throughout the world. I still continue my professional activities as a journal editor, management consultant, and corporate board director. Some people know me as a close-up magician and member of the Academy of Magical Arts at the famed Magic Castle in Hollywood, California, USA.

Thanks very much for your future endeavours Peter. WIthout you and your ilk, none of us would have as much fun.

If I may say so though...your profile picture makes you look a little stiff :-)
