It's been a while since I have posted but I am finally through my Tucson related work while still isolating at home.

Hi Joseph,

About the Ilmenite after Rutile, in your image I can see Titanite on a Feldspar (Microcline) but I can't see the Ilmenite after Rutile. Maybe is not visible on the image?

The titanite crystals grow on the blades of ilmenite and almost completely cover them. I have other pieces that have significantly more ilmenite but they are not as aesthetic. The ilmenite appears as dark areas deep within the microcline crystals.

Jordi,
I have had an opportunity to do some further work on these specimens and from what I can visually ascertain, the titanite crystals grow on the ilmenite pseudo's. The ilmenite/rutile appears to act as a seed point for the titanite crystals with some of the titanite crystals included by ilmenite/rutile. In many cases the titanite completely encompasses the ilmenite/rutile contact point and is only visible when the titanite crystals are accidentally blasted off during cleaning. Unfortunately, while I have a decent binocular microscope, I don't have the ability to recover photographs from it.

Stay safe everyone.
