Most Indian zeolites are very nice and the prices quite affordable.

This is true, Carles. I paid for this piece just 10 euros, and from an Italian dealer...
The overabundance of Indian material is not enough to justify the generally low price.
China has also overwhelmed us with an endless series of beautiful species, but the prices of the Chinese material are far higher.
It is the different "economy" that makes the difference.
Personally, I would rather pay more for Indian minerals and know that the social conditions of Indian people are not so shamefully poor.
Warm Tuscan greetings.

Does the low price reflect that they are often a bi-product of digging wells or quarrying for stone?

Hi, James.
Certainly what you say may have its relevance.
But even as a bi-product, zeolites have their own market in industry, agriculture, zootechny and even medicine. Probably today's synthetic production of zeolites has put the natural zeolites sector in crisis.
I'm sorry, but I'm not an economics expert (my cultural background is fundamentally humanistic).
My considerations were intended to express my solidarity with the people. And lessen my sense of remorse.
Beware of the English variant. :-)
A warm greeting.
Sante

Hello.
In addition to not being a good photographer, a few hours ago I was diagnosed with maculopathy.
Please, excuse the bad quality of my photos.
Best regards.
