PostPosted: Oct 05, 2009 10:44    Post subject: Anyone receiving spam ??

I have received 2 emails which look like it's from Fabre Minerals Forum but they are spam, the emails are identical to those sent from this site but the subject line is not on the list of topics ? If I block the emails from my account then I lose out on originals from this forum ??

Anyone else receiving these or any suggestions please.

Thanks
Debbie

me too,
not the first time that happened .. the spammers use auto-posting proggies if they can manage to get in (or some spammers register, post a few - fire and forget and then are kicked by the webmasters)

cheers
Roger

Although Montanpark is absolutely right, I think that what happened this time is that an individual (Josh....) published 6 different topics in the Forum in a very short time, all of them very long, and not related at all with the Forum topics, but with healthy, stress, etcetera... Of course when I saw them I deleted them immediately and I also deleted "Josh" of our users list, but everybody got the announce of this six emails because when someone publish a message the system send the announce immediately and when you try reach these message you can't, because them were deleted.

Sorry for it, but is complicate to avoid spammers or individuals publish things in FMF if they do it manually (non robots).
As the long-time members know, this Forum is basically clean, but time to time some undesired visitor can disturb us..

If in the future the problem increases, we will execute some actions against it.

I read a couple of his messages before Jordi deleted them, and sent Jordi a quick email to tell him about them. Then he acted and they have vanished! So the site is kept clean, which I appreciate. They were of zero interest

I got 5 of them disguised as forum posts, I wonder who responds to this kind of advertising, personally I delete spam immediately and wouldnt dream of following the links and buying the things they try to sell. and Id bet noone else who uses this forum would buy this stuff either, it seems a strange, rude and intrusive way of trying to sell things, but I guess someone must respond to it or they wouldnt bother.
