Thank you all for the kind comments!

Nice additions Tobi. I especially like the specimen from the San Diego Mine. I have a Barite from that location but I can't recall ever having seen a fluorite from there. Good find. Michael
I must confess I didn't even know that locality. When I saw the fluorite specimen with its yellow crystals in contrast to the grey matrix and the white baryte, it was love at first sight - I wanted to have it regardless of the locality. I had never heard of the San Diego Mine in Chihuahua/Mexiko. Without the locality information, I would have guessed it's from Morocco, Saxony or maybe France or Spain, wouldn't have guessed Mexico.

Tobi, as I can see, at this moment there are videos of both specimens available. Especially attractive is the one from the Chinese fluorite. I think it would be very interesting to post one of them (or both) here. Why not?
You'r right, why not ;-) Here are the videos made by Spirifer Minerals who sold the two specimens:

No doubt you know, you may integrate them at FMF after posting in YouTube, as others do.

To be honest, I don't know how to embed a video from an external website to an FMF post, but please feel free to change my post into one with integrated videos.

Thanks & best regards

Isn't this feature only for Youtube videos? My video links are from an external dealer's website and it doesn't work. I tried posting the URLs into the small window but FMF sais "FMFvideo error", I guess because it's not a Youtube link.

Tobi

Tobi, posting both videos at YouTube is a matter of 5 min. I usually do it. The owner of the copyright will not mind as long as you put his name in the description.

And think twice. The links you posted above will not work forever. I believe that in the not distant future such URLs will be unusable, since the owner may delete the video files when he needs more space.

To be honest, I don't even have a Youtube account and I don't plan to do so, I just use the site for watching, never posted anything there. But I think we don't have to do that much discussion here about that just because of two mineral videos ;-)

No problem, Tobi, it's up to you. I just thought I would offer advice, in case you didn't do it yet, to download the video files and keep them in a safe place. I guess the supplier is not going to have them available forever.

PostPosted: Oct 10, 2021 12:42    Post subject: Re: Collection of Tobi

Some time ago, I started a "just for fun" project of making an illustrated catalogue of my collection. The result was better than I expected, so I asked Jordi if it would be worth being published here on FMF. He agreed and allowed to publish it as one of our Featured Columns on FMF:

The Tobi Martin Mineral Collection
https://www.mineral-forum.com/message-board/viewtopic.php?p=76535#76535

So if someone wants to browse my collection, here you can see it on 30 book pages on just one forum site instead of browsing over 50 pages here in this thread ;-)

Thanks to Jordi for allowing me to make the best of my collection a featured column here in the forum!

Regards
Tobi

Thank you, Michael, for sure they will. I focused a lot on quartz and fluorite during the last time but a good Daoping pyromorphite and a vivid pink calcite from D.R. Congo were on my list for a while so I'm glad that I found those little beauties at Fabre Minerals!
