I really enjoyed your agate specimens Tobi, but this tourmaline is 'delicious.'

The next addition will be a spectacular stalactitic fluorite from China - thanks to Master Jordi from whom I got this. Botryoidal fluorites are rare and I always liked these ones from Minggang/Henan since they came out, but I never found one I really fell in love with - until I saw this at Fabre Minerals :-)
Besides the very aesthetic form of the specimen, it has the special feature that some of the stalactites were somehow interrupted during growth. I've never seen something like that before, this is Jordi's description: "Some of the growths were interrupted, probably due to contact with the rock walls of the vein, as evidenced by the relicts of Quartz that emerge from the Fluorite, which they most likely served as guides during their growth."
A very special and unique addition to my collection!

Today I could add something to my collection that I was dreaming of for very long: I visited a friend who is a fellow collector but also part-time mineral dealer. I always find something for my collection when I visit him but this time one of my collector's dreams came true - a really nice and large classic Wölsendorf "honey-spar" fluorite! This new addition is a true highlight for my collection and a wonderful large sample of one of Germany's most famous mineral classics. A dream come true for me as a fluorite fan and collector of German minerals :-)

Hello Tobi
I'm very glad you finally got one of your dreams. That German classic is an excellent specimen worthy of a museum. An unusual color for the species with very well defined cubes. Absolutely gorgeous.
Congratulations!

Thank you all for your kind comments!
I'm really happy that I could add this museum specimen of German mining history to my collection: I love fluorite, I collect for aesthetic reasons, I have a faible for German classics and I always wanted a good Wölsendorf Honigspat fluorite - so there are several reasons why this wonderful piece delights me :-)
A true highlight and maybe now THE centerpiece of my collection!

Very nice and possibly old specimen. Glad you were able to find it. Do you know anything of it's history?

But these kinds of fluorite were mostly found between late 1950s and early 1970s at Marienschacht and Johannesschacht, so I only have an approximation.
