I love the contrast of the blue Cavansite against the matrix. The individual growth reminds me of faceted gems on a mount

Do you remember when these first came out? They were amazing! But then a steady number emerged and they became 'common'

I believe it was 1989 when they first showed up in Tucson. I recall spending a good bit of money for one from Dr. Hans Jurgen Wilke. Given that they just kept coming, I'm sure it was not one of my best mineral investments! They were pretty, however.

1989 seems right, that's when I paid a small fortune for a "probably won't find anymore" piece.

This specimen was less than £5 sterling. I found them in the specials bin at my local Gem show. An interesting delicate find
