My favorites are from Tenkawa village in Japan, the rainbow andradites from an old abandoned magnetite mine. The colored layer is not a surface iridescence but rather a few tenths of a millimeter under the surface.

And of course everyone loves the transparent grossulars from Asbestos, Quebec. And the deep green uvarovites from Finland..... and.... the list could easily turn into a book.

Then let's write the script for that book ;-) Concerning Asbestos: Right, Jeffrey Mine features great garnet crystals, but I like the gemmy and vivid green demantoids more than the grossulars. However, a great locality :-)

Les ... just one word for that specimen: WOW!!! :-)

Really nice, Matt!
__________
Additional information:

I changed the name of the topic from "Favourite Garnet localities" to "Favourite Garnets". So everyone can feel free not only to discuss his/her favourite localities but also which varieties, colours and forms of that mineral group he/she likes the most, e.g. simple of complex crystal forms, gemmy or opaque crystals, lustrous or not, darker or brighter colours etc. ...

I like very much the Grossulars (hessonite) from Jeffey Mine, the Andradites (demantoid) from Belqeys Mountain, Iran, and the Spessartines from Tongbei, China.

Then you will like these two articles a lot:

https://www.mindat.org/article.php/4117/Uvarovite
https://www.mindat.org/article.php/4216/Tsavorite+-+the+vanadian+type

;-)

They are both from this year and I recommend them to anyone who likes garnets!
