 Mineral: Grandidierite
 Locality:
Tranomaro Commune, Tranomaro-Maromby area, Amboasary District, Anosy Region (Fort Dauphin Region), Toliara Province (Tuléar), Madagascar
 Dimensions: 2.5 x 3.5 x 0.5 cm / main crystal: 3.2 cm
 Description:
Mass: 5 g
MIM number: 1999
Flat, 3 mm thick translucent crystal, with the top perfectly formed, and a beautiful deep blue-green color. The bottom of the crystal is naturally healed and contains a remnant of kaolin. It is very unusual to find a crystal so well formed for this rare species.

Doubly terminated, very well formed, translucent, light blue-green crystal on a feldspar matrix. It is rare to find a grandidierite as well formed on matrix (curiously free crystals are better formed while those on matrix have almost always indistinct terminations).

Complete, sharp and translucent crystal with a transparent top whose color varies from periwinkle to purple depending on the nature of the lighting.
