I’ve been struggling to find out what these rocks are. I find them in veins along with quartz and sometimes fused with it. The rocks I find it in are a conglomerate of some sort that crumbles easily and contains lots of mica. I’ve tested the rock and it seems to have a 6-7 hardness. But the ground where I get them, which is a stream bed, and fractured so many of them break apart into smaller pieces. Not all mind you but a lot do. The rock isn’t dull and can have a semi shiny surface. It doesn’t occur in crystals like a quartz even when fused with it and seems like it has a layered formation that’s very geometric. Colors range in pale pink to dark orange pink and it’s opaque. The quartz that I find fused with the rock will often break away fairly easily. The quartz is milky to clear with no clear crystal shape. Both the unknown rock and quartz will have many fractures and rivers of mica running through it. There is also lots of mica schist in the area (like crushed mica mashed together. Dust) so large and compact they look like fallen trees. Anyhow the stream I search is located in North Carolina near the VA border more northwest of the Piedmont (center) of the state.

Your rock doesn't look like jasper to me. It looks like a decomposing piece of felsic intrusive (like a granite) with pink K-feldspar, quartz, white plagioclase feldspar, muscovite, etc. The grainsize is large so it could be pegmatitic. You say you have a lot of schist in the area. Do you have granitic intrusions as well?

There is granite but the pink stone looks like it’s doing the intruding. There will often be mounds and mounds of crumbling granite then a strip of this with quartz in it then more granite. I also find lots of teeny tiny garnets as well.

The pink mineral is feldspar - the cleavage planes are obvious. I can't speak to other minerals present.
