Gold from Harvard Mine, Jamestown, Jamestown District, Mother Lode Belt, Tuolumne County, California, USA.

The Harvard Mine was a gold and silver mine located in Tuolumne County, California. Since this mine in particular has been flooded now, it is impossible to get new material from there and more and more rare to get quality specimens.

Silver (variety kongsbergite) from Santa Matilde cut, Berja mining group, Las Herrerías, Cuevas del Almanzora, Comarca Levante Almeriense, Almería, Andalusia, Spain. (08/1999)

Jordi's description:
“In the classic Las Herrerías Mine, works along 1999 allowed that in an area of enrichment were found new Silvers, quite similar to those found many years ago in that mine and that are represented in the most important museums in the world.
The new pieces have a very high content (10%) of Mercury. In addition, when analyzing them we saw that they had a large amount of Chlorargyrite scattered throughout the piece.”

The name konsbergita comes from the town of Konsberg (Buskerud) in Norway. It is a native Silver variety with 5% Mercury in its composition.

I use Jordi’s photo because the details come out. I have tried but it is not easy. I have treated it with photoshop but also many details are lost in the perimeter of the specimen due to its aerial branches. So I unusually load a photo directly from the dealer.
This Silver was a present to my father who was born in Almeria province.
