Huge olive-green rhombohedral monocrystal perched on a white orthoclase matrix offering an astonishing contrast. It is very rare to find such a large and well-formed crystal for this species. The siderite is translucent under strong light up to a few millimeters thickness. The specimen was found as is, as evidenced by the small crystals of other minerals (including fluorite) that dot the faces of the orthoclase.

Spectacular alignment of green apophyllite crystals measuring approximately 65 cm and taking the appearance of a snake, hence the nickname "Kaa" after the fictional giant snake from The Jungle Book stories written by Rudyard Kipling. The basalt slab covered with white stilbite-Ca on which the snake formed seems complete on all sides. It is very rare to find such a large specimen (let alone with this unusual aesthetic) in such good condition.

Double terminated quartz with multiple secondary terminations. This crystal contains an uncommon 4-phase inclusion consisting of a gas bubble trapped in the petroleum, the yellow petroleum itself, a darker brown organic material, and black carbon inclusions. The gas bubble formed as the petroleum contracted more than the quartz after cooling, thus pulling a vacuum within the fluid which vaporized the lighter cuts of the petroleum and created this bubble. This sample is highly fluorescent under both short and long wave UV.

Perfectly formed orthorhombic white and translucent crystal, terminated on both sides (clear hemimorphy with flat base and pointed top), with very shiny faces, some of which are striated. It is topped by a 3.1 cm side crystal. It is unusual to find such a large and well crystallized bertrandite. It is the largest crystal to come out of an aberrant pocket in this mine which is not at all known for this mineral (the other bertrandite crystals that have been found there are much smaller and have been cut).

The likely geological history of the formation of this superb sample can be easily read by inspection: A large crystal of red topaz measuring at least 13 cm formed first, then got cleaved into 4 pieces by the tectonic deformations of the medium in which it was found (hence the nickname "the rocket" as they look similar to the stages of a spatial step rocket). These were subsequently displaced from their initial position by the natural movements of the medium and then “frozen” in calcite (more precisely in a light-colored tectonic breccia, which formed above a grey carbonatite). The 4 pieces do not show the same width: the section of a topaz crystal being rectangular, these pieces probably rotated before getting frozen. Part of the breccia was removed to expose the pieces of topaz that show a superb red color that is very rare for this mineral (coloration due to chromium which also imparts a strong UV fluorescence, and to the absence of natural radioactivity which would have transformed it into a sherry color as is the case for the Brazilian imperial topazes).

Beautiful crystal totally transparent and without veils, smooth and shiny, with a perfect top termination. The crystal is trichroic even if the colors are a little pale (the crystal has not been heated): the purple is well expressed, the blue is not very saturated, and the red is rather pink. The advantage is that this crystal is perfectly visible without special lighting, and that under polarized light (such as that coming from a LED screen) one can see a whole series of amazing colors by rotating it.

It is unusual to have the two types of terminations on the same sample. This spectacular ensemble is the major piece of this discovery.

The main crystal of this sample, considered very large for this species, is a beautiful translucent light amber color. Its surface is composed of abundant vicinal faces (the position of which varies very little from that of a fundamental plane of the form). The major rhombohedral face is aesthetically positioned (facing the front of the specimen) and shows a subtle four-petaled rosette pattern. The intersection of the rhombohedral faces reveal a subparallel offset of crystals, producing the satiny reflectivity of the vicinal faces. The sides and back of the specimen have similar large smithsonite crystals.

Perfectly formed translucent white crystal on an orthoclase matrix. Its surface is perfectly smooth and the edges very sharp, which is rare for this species whose crystals are often corroded. Finally, a 14 cm crystal of white-gray quartz (also containing green tourmaline inclusions) formed at the base, giving the whole the astonishing appearance of a snail.
