Mineral: | Siderite on Quartz |
Locality: | Minas da Panasqueira, Aldeia de São Francisco de Assis, Covilhã, Castelo Branco, Cova da Beira, Centro, Portugal | |
|
Dimensions: | 14.5 x 13.5 x 18 cm / main crystal: 8.1 cm |
Description: |
Mass: 1500 g MIM number: 1540 Probable year of extraction : 1979 Two intact, well formed cream-colored rhombohedrons with another smaller one at the junction of the two larger ones. These siderites are stuck at the base of two quartz crystals in a V-shape exhibiting black inclusions at their terminations (the largest quartz measuring 18 cm). The group is a floater: the lower portion of the quartz crystals is entirely recrystallized. Photographer: AINU / Augustin de Valence |
