I am off to roam the Inn Suites and then off to the Main show. Today is childrens day at the show, I usually wait for it to quiet down before going there. But I love the children and how they see the minerals, gems and jewelry.
Jim arrives back in Tucson today, I have missed him greatly. We love to enjoy Tucson together.
Later.....

PostPosted: Feb 13, 2011 08:35    Post subject: Re: Gail Spann's Version of a Tucson show report 2011

Well, as you can tell, I have been too tired late at night to put photos and captions on here. I have amazing photos, great rocks and wonderful people yet to add.
I leave for home today, and expect I will be loading photos for hours on end in the comfort of my own living room.
Jim made it in, Jolyon and I went to the airport to pick him up and went straight to Peter and Allyson Megaw's party. Bill did NOT have an iguana on his head as last year.
But I got a good photo of him which I will share later, it is rather an interesting one...ahem.
Got to hand it to Bill Larson, he has a great sense of humour.

My biggest dilemma today...how to get all the rocks and minerals I picked up this week home......

My best wishes to you all...

Well Ladies and Gentlemen, I am going to pack up my trusty Mac Book Air and head out to the Main show. Last night was the TGMS dinner and awards ceremony. Congratulations to all who won.
I have great photos taken of all winners and the fun of the dinner and silent auction as well. I urge people to attend and support the event every year. We are grateful to the Tucson Gem and Mineral Society for all their hard work and this is a great way to show our appreciation.

Till later, and look for hundreds more photos to come....
My very best to you all, Gail

PostPosted: Feb 14, 2011 09:35    Post subject: Re: Gail Spann's Version of a Tucson show report 2011

Back in Dallas and settling in. We have a new member of our home, a puppy...white standard sized poodle named Albite. He joined our four other big dogs a few weeks before coming to Tucson. I had quite a greeting when I came in the front door!

Our flight was on time and no worries on bringing our minerals in our carry on luggage. Our son Tom, who was a dealer at the Westward Look show, brought all our minerals back when he left that Tuesday after. We also asked a dealer friend to bring a couple of flats back as well.

It is often a concern, and if someone was smart they might start a courier service to deliver minerals for people who fly in but need drivers to deliver. Just a thought.....

So......let's see what photos I can add this fine morning....
