Scheelite with adular and chlorite crystals from Morro Velho gold mine, Nova Lima, Minas Gerais, Brazil.

Mineral size is 5 x 4 x 2 cm.

Curiosity: Approximately 15 years ago I got it from my friend who had brought it from Brazil. It floats, which means that once it was attached to the matrix, however it was later detached from it during turbulent geological history and recrystallized. So it is crystallized from all sides, transparent and has dark orange colour. Under short wavelength UV light it fluoresces magnificently in blue colour. It is very special.

SMITHSONITE

Smithsonite, carbonate smithsonite from ancient mines Laurion haldi, Greece. Specimen size 7 x 4 inches - the year of excavation, the 1983rd

Smithsonite specimen has a hidden beauty. Eventually, when we look at it several times, only to realize how beautiful example of this.

Sphalerite

Stari Trg, Trepća, Republic of Kosovo

(Zn,Fe)S) is a mineral that is the chief ore of zinc. It consists largely of zinc sulfide in crystalline form but almost always contains variable iron. When iron content is high it is an opaque black variety, marmatite. It is usually found in association with galena, pyrite, and other sulfides along with calcite, dolomite, and fluorite. Miners have also been known to refer to sphalerite as zinc blende and black-jack.

Hello Carles Millan,

Specific minerals in Trepća – Republic of Kosovo are: sphalerite, galena, pyrite, arsenopyrite, pirotin, calcite, rhodochrosite, siderite, dolomite, silica. Other minerals are not much important .

The presented mineral Sphalerite is as big as: 8 cm x 7 cm x 3 cm
I am very satisfied that my minerals are well liked by other collectors as well. I have presented only my favourite examples.

Realgar,

α-As4S4, is an arsenic sulfide mineral, also known as "ruby sulphur" or "ruby of arsenic". Realgar, orpiment, and arsenopyrite provide nearly all the world's supply of arsenic as a byproduct of smelting concentrates derived from these ores.

Dimensions in cm: 5.5 x 4.2 x 3
Largest crystal in cm: 1
Baia Sprie, Maramures, Romania

Smoky Quartz, Aegirine

Mt Malosa, Zomba, Malawi

Size: 5cm x 5 cm x 4cm

Curiosity:Aegirine was named after Aegir, the Teutonic god of the sea. The mineral specimens of Aegirines, Arfvedsonite, Feldspars, and the rare unusual REE (Rare Earth Element) minerals are some of the best in the world. The Aegirines from Mt Malosa form large free standing crystals up to 25cm and the very rare REE-mineral Parisite from Mt Malosa, are also some of the largest ever found.

Hi just wanted to confirm that in Trepca mine - the Republic of Kosovo except these cheap minerals that you've mentioned there you can find Vivianite, Ludlamite, Quartz, Bournonite, Aragonite, Baryte, Marcasite Gold, Limonite and a lot of other minerals that for the moment I cant remember so with all respect I'm trying to tell that you have no idea what all can come out of Trepca mine.

Hello Besi !

All that you have written is true!

Parageneses specific for Trepća are: Sphalerite, Galena, Pyrite, Arsenopyrite, Pyrrhotite, Calcite, Rhodochrosite, Siderite, Dolomite, Silica. Other minerals are not so common as for example: Aragonite, Chalcedony, Tetrahedrite, Vivianit, Childrenit ...

Trepća is still one of the most important zinc and lead ore mines in the world. Over 70 different minerals have been reported. Therefore, Kosovo has won its independence. Collectors highly appreciate specimens of Sphalerite, Galena, Pyrrhotite, Dolomite and Vivianite and the biggest crystals ever found originate from that region (for example, galena, sphalerite, dolomite as big as 20 cm)

Vivianit has a special value as it is difficult to obtain, while its price goes from 200 Euros upwards. I have been looking for a long time for Vivianite, but I have not found it yet for a reasonable price.

Sphalerite, rhodochrosite, arsenopyrite, pyrite

A magnificent example of a typical Sphalerite crystals in combination with crystalline arsenopyrite, pyrite and rhodochrosite. Habitat Stari trg (Old Market), Republic of Kosovo, Kosovska Mitrovica, Kosovo.
Size 10 x 8 x 5 cm
