FMF - 5 years of growing a mineralogy community
A group of friends of FMF in Tucson 2010
August 7 is the 5th anniversary of the start of this Forum. Many things have happened during this time, some good, some great, some not so good. Many people have visited us, if only to read some comment or to see some photo that they found interesting, for both these visitors and the Forum grow every day through the contributions of the members and the reads of the visitors. But above all of this, the really best thing about this Forum is its moderators.
We are very lucky to have with us two "masters" of the mineralogy: John S. White and Peter Megaw who with their fine posts give to us the "touch of class" that characterizes the threads of FMF where they participate. If this were not enough, we also had the gift of the past participation of Pete Modreski as moderator and, thankfully, he continues to collaborate frequently.
I publish too many posts and the imminent article that Rocks & Minerals magazine will publish about FMF's 5th anniversary will complete an overview about this Forum, so it is time to let John and Peter state their experience as moderators in something that, no doubt, looked fairly strange for them when they started to participate, and that I now believe is a part of their lives, the same as for us...
John S. White:
-------------------
Jordi is far too modest. Through an extraordinary commitment of his time, talent and imagination Jordi has created something quite wonderful. I feel privileged to have been asked to help at the outset and, of course, I had no idea then that it would become the gathering place for such a fascinating and diverse group of people who share a love of minerals. A toast to you, my friend, you are exceptional!
John
Peter Megaw:
-----------------
Jordi...I heartily echo John's sentiments. You have created something of inestimable value to all of us who love minerals...giving us the means to discuss and communicate back and forth in almost real time. Unlike John, I was not involved from the outset so I missed many of the growing pains and start-up headaches...I got to come aboard a well oiled machine running smoothly down the tracks...I feel more like a lucky hitchhiker than a master.
I'll see that toast and raise another...."Salud" Jordi!
Peter
I can't resist to add one of the inimitable cartoons did by the indefatigable Gail Spann in Tucson 2011!

I have no witty photos to add (Gail, yours is priceless! John is wearing a very appropriate shirt for such a comment.), Jordi, but I do add my thanks and congratulations for establishing such a valuable and enjoyable tool.
Cheers,
Mark
